Session Descriptions

New Financial Reporting Standards Affecting Nonprofits

This session will highlight the new accounting standards impacting revenue recognition and financial reporting and disclosures for not-for-profit organizations.

Speakers: Lisa Wilson, Northwest Offices Managing Partner, Assurance Services, RSM US LLP; Liane K Williams, CPA, Senior Manager, Assurance Services, RSM US LLP

Nonprofits and Sexual Harassment in the Age of #METOO

Sexual harassment is a significant workplace problem that has garnered widespread and ongoing media coverage. While the extent of the problem may be shocking to some, the publicity has helped re-focus many employers on the importance of taking the steps necessary to eradicate this unlawful practice. James will present an overview of the legal framework of sexual harassment and, equally important, will share best practices nonprofit employers can and should take to: (1) prevent harassment; and (2) respond appropriately and swiftly when allegations do arise.

Speaker: James Zissler, Shareholder, Littler Mendelson P.C.

Return to Work/Light Duty Solutions for On-the-Job Injuries

Is your return to work toolkit ready to go once you have an injury? If not, learn what you want to have in place “before” the injury occurs so you will be ready to spring into action if your injured worker can’t return to their regular job. Whether you need to start the informal or formal return to work process, it all begins with light duty. Learn what you can have prepped and ready to go to make the transition easy for you and your employee. We’ll also discuss the benefit of light duty and how to get L&I to send YOU a check.
